There is no legal requirement for you to have an accountant, but having an accountant can save you time, make sure you pay the correct taxes and potentially avoid penalties or errors through incorrect or late submissions.
A good accountant can go even further than simply addressing compliance. They can identify opportunities and risks to your business, help you assess your cash flow so you are able to make meaningful and affordable investments and should be able to give you even greater insight into your business than you have had before.
CIMA is the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, a globally recognised accounting body which is a member of the International Federation of Accountants, specialising with accountants working in industry. In particular, this means its members are unique, in that they can empathise with understanding the finances of local businesses.
Legally, there is no obligation for an accountant to hold a charter or qualification of any standing and they can still practice, however employing them to do so for your business can potentially pose a significant risk. Charter holders not only sit a host of examinations, but have to become qualified through experience before attaining membership status and maintain their knowledge by continuing professional development.
It is arguably safer and simpler than using your own personal media to store sensitive data. Cloud storage companies are obliged to comply with strict security requirements in regard to housing and storing data confidentially. This aside, they also have back-up facilities and procedures that mean your data is protected in the event of a disaster. We work with partners who in turn host their data on these secure environments so there is no compromise. The benefits outweigh the risks, with seamless, instant access to your information anywhere in the world from several devices, opposed to having to be by your local PC to update your records.
Changing accountants is not a decision you should take lightly, but sometimes change can be for the greater good.
If you are contemplating changing, or unsure what is involved, we have created a dedicated section to help you decide whether change is necessary and what is involved.
We will never charge for calls or emails. We are here to help you and your business grow and fear of charges for getting in touch will not help us achieve that.
Whilst we focus on our local community, the advance of cloud technology means no location in the UK is too far for us and we are more than able to help through video conferencing, email or telephone calls.
However you can find here our local network where we are more than happy to meet in person.
